Bloodworms
Bloodworm patterns imitate the larval stage of the chironomid midge — the same creature that becomes a buzzer when it pupates. Trout feed heavily on bloodworm larvae in the silt and sediment of stillwaters, making these patterns deadly when fish are rooting on the bottom.
- Classic red bloodworm patterns — slim, segmented imitations in bright red
- Epoxy & resin bloodworms — ultra-realistic, durable patterns for pressured fish
- Bloodworm nymphs — combining bloodworm colouring with a nymph profile
- UV bloodworms — for added visibility in coloured or deep water
Fish them on a long leader close to the bottom on a floating or slow-sinking line, or incorporate them into a washing line rig as the point fly. Particularly effective in early season when trout are feeding deep.
