Sedges, Hogs & Muddlers
Sedges, Hogs and Muddlers are big, buoyant flies that push water and create a wake — perfect for fishing on or just under the surface when trout are looking up. These patterns come into their own during the sedge (caddis) hatch and in rough, coloured water.
- Sedge patterns — elk hair, deer hair and palmered sedges for the evening rise
- Muddler Minnows — the classic deer hair head pattern, deadly stripped or static
- Hog patterns — bushy, high-floating flies for wild water and wild fish
- Stimulators — versatile attractor patterns that work across the season
Fish these on the top dropper in a wave, or skated across the surface on a tight line during the evening sedge hatch for explosive results.
